A monograph titled “Morphophysiological Characteristics and Productivity of Wheat under Dryland Rainfed Conditions” has been published
A monograph authored by the Vice-President of ANAS, director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Academician Irada Huseynova and the director of the Gobustan Regional Experimental Station of the Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Atabey Jahangirov, has been released under the title “Morphophysiological Characteristics and Productivity of Wheat under Dryland Rainfed Conditions”. The book was prepared within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World”.
Published by “Savad” Publishing House, the monograph presents the results of a comprehensive study of the phenological and morphophysiological characteristics, productivity, drought tolerance and susceptibility of winter soft bread wheat grown under rainfed conditions with unstable moisture supply depending on water availability. The research investigates heading date, the period from heading to full maturity, plant height, parameters of stem parts, dimensions and area of the flag leaf, relative water content and stay-green duration, parameters of photosynthetic gas exchange, remobilization of assimilates synthesized before the reproductive phase, productivity, and drought sensitivity and tolerance indices under varying water supply regimes. The book analyzes the interrelationships among morphophysiological parameters, their correlations with productivity and the drought susceptibility index and evaluates the prospects for applying several morphophysiological parameters in the selection of winter wheat.
The publication will serve as a valuable resource for specialists conducting research on plant physiology under stress conditions and on the selection of winter soft wheat for improved productivity.
