The book “Flora of Karabakh,” dedicated to the Glorious Victory by the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education, has been released. The author and editor of the book, released by “Savad” Publishing House, is Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, Director-General of the Institute.

The 900-page book includes 8 maps, 10 tables, and illustrations featuring color photographs of 300 relict and endemic plant species including 91 rare species. It also contains botanical characteristics and illustrative images of more than 2,000 higher plant species, over 400 species of fungi, as well as moss and lichen species specific to Karabakh.

For the first time since the establishment of the Institute of Botany, such a comprehensive book on the flora of Karabakh has been published in Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that after the Glorious Victory in the Patriotic War, extensive research was carried out in the Karabakh region by the management and staff of the Institute of Botany. Rare, endemic, and medicinal plants, as well as samples of mosses and algae, were studied, and ethnobotanical research was conducted. The results of these scientific studies are reflected in the book “Flora of Karabakh.”
